Senior Project Manager

Location: Fully Remote (California Residents Only)
Employment Type: W2 Only
Duration: Long-Term, Multi-Year Contract

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to support large, complex IT initiatives for a California state government client. This role is fully remote but requires residency in California. The ideal candidate has extensive PM experience in government environments, strong leadership skills, and hands-on experience with California's PAL process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex IT projects for state government
  • Oversee scope, schedule, risk, communication, and stakeholder management
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and team collaboration sessions
  • Conduct business process reviews and gap analyses
  • Develop and revise Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) documentation
  • Mentor team members and support knowledge transfer
  • Support modernization and Agile project efforts

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Seven years of project management experience
  • Four years as a Senior PM on large or complex IT projects
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active PMP certification
  • Five years supporting government agencies as a Senior PM
  • Five years of team leadership, mentoring, and facilitation
  • Three years of schedule management and MS Project experience
  • Two years of risk management experience
  • Two years of business process review and gap analysis experience
  • One year drafting/revising California CDT PAL documentation

Desirable Qualifications

  • Nine-plus years of PM experience
  • Master's degree
  • Five-plus years holding a PMP
  • Seven-plus years leading PM work for government agencies
  • Three-plus years with PAL documentation
  • Experience with business modernization efforts
  • Two-plus years using Agile SCRUM
  • Experience managing large-scale modernization with multiple interfaces
